New homebuyer workshop planned
By Elizabeth Billips Associate Editor

First-time homebuyers are invited to a free workshop to help them better understand the process.

On Saturday, Oct. 27, CSRA Economic Opportunity will facilitate the workshop at the Waynesboro City Hall from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

The program is sponsored by the City of Waynesboro and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs in an effort to promote home ownership.

Topics will include: down payment and closing, cost assistance programs, credit reports and money management, the role of a real estate agent, the mortgage loan process, home inspections and more.

A free lunch will also be served.

According to Community Development Director Trinetta Skinner, all participants will earn the certificate of completion required for The Georgia Dream Homeownership Program - a program that offers below-market first mortgage financing for qualified borrowers, as well as assistance for down payment and closing costs.

To complete the required registration by phone, contact Skinner at 706-554-8006.
