Weekend assaults may be connected

      Two men were severely beaten over the weekend - and investigators say the attacks could be connected. It began around 11 p.m. Friday when 40-year-old Curtis Nair was knocked onto the curb along West Eighth Street and beaten by three black men who "came out of nowhere.

Argument between friends leads to stabbing

      A Hephzibah man was stabbed Thursday night when an argument with a drinking buddy turned ugly. According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, 65-year-old Fred James was rushed to the Medical College of Georgia after he was stabbed in the groin with a sharp object.

Arrest made in Molotov case

      Police arrested a Waynesboro man who has been wanted since April for setting a home on fire with a Molotov cocktail. Johnathon Terell Hughes, 21, was arrested on seven warrants Saturday when an officer pulled him over for speeding.
