Educators chosen for grants

Six Burke County educators were chosen for the Education First Fund from First National Bank for this fall. All A+ Account holders are given the opportunity to apply for a grant, and these educators were each awarded a check from First National to help fund projects that fell outside the school budget. From left are Nan Palmer, community relations director for First National; Nancy Cain and Michelle Woods, teachers for Faith Christian Academy, received $150 for a new chalkboard and $75 for chorus books, respectively; Renee Sasser, assistant principal at Blakeney Elementary, $200 for Girls Empowered Make Stars; Doris Carson, teacher for Burke County High School, $200 for FCCLA Student Organization; and Cindy Rhodes, teacher for Waynesboro Primary School, $200 for literacy books. Not pictured is Kathy Reeves, a BCHS teacher who received $200 for the Special Olympics. The A+ Account at First National features no fees and no minimum balance and gives educators free checks.
