Mr. Shellie W. Dixon

Mr. Shellie Willard Dixon, 77, of Augusta, Ga., entered into rest on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 at Trinity Hospice.

He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline DeVan Sheppard Dixon. Funeral service at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, Augusta, with the Rev. George Webb officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

A native of Girard, Ga., Shellie was the son of the late Shellie Emory Dixon and the late Lillie Mae Glisson Dixon. He was self employed as farmer and of the Baptist faith.

Additional survivors include four sons, Gary Dixon, Gerald Dixon and Bill Dixon, all of Girard, and William Hugh Hixon III of Augusta; three daughters, Angela Hixon Stroud (Glenn) and Tonya Hixon Zimmerman, both of Augusta; six grandchildren, Greg Stroud, Amanda Stroud, Celia Hixon Black, a very special grandson William "Billy Boy" Hugh Dixon IV, David Zimmerman and Dustin Zimmerman; three great grandchildren, Victoria Black, Ashley Brooke Stroud and William Hugh Dixon,V; very special nephew, Michael "Kip" Jenkins; a brother, Willie Clyde Dixon of Girard; and two sisters, Genee D. Barnes of Augusta and Elaine D. Wren of Vidalia, Ga.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Trinity Hospice. Their kind, compassionate caring meant so much during Shellie's illness. A special recognition goes out to Marie Killips, Cynthia Willis and Patricia Pace.

Visitation was held on Friday, Sept. 28, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road.
