No elections needed for Midville council
By Anne Marie Kyzer Staff Writer

Midville voters won't be heading to the booth to select members of city council.

The election originally scheduled for Nov. 6 has been cancelled since there is no opposi- tion for candidates running for council and mayor seats.

Council member Scotty Womack was unopposed for his seat, and no opposition came forward for newcomer Jeana Stuckey Durden. Durden will take Norma Thorne's place on the council. Thorne chose not to run for another term.

Mayor Marion "Butch" Brinson, who was appointed by the council after the resignation of former mayor Bruce Anderson last year, will serve a full four-year term as mayor.

The terms of other council members, Jack Williams and Sam Cummings, do not expire until next year.
