Deputies on hunt for missing child molester
By Elizabeth Billips Associate Editor

Charles Kight Jr., 41, is wanted for failure to comply with the sex offender registry.
Deputies are looking for a convicted child molester who moved without notifying them.

According to Sgt. Annette Hodge of the Burke County Sheriff 's Office, an arrest warrant has been issued for 41-year-old Charles Kight Jr. for failure to comply with the sex offender registry.

Sgt. Hodge said deputies have been looking for Kight since Sept. 29, when they realized he wasn't living at his registered address - a storage building behind his parents' Hephzibah-Keysville Road residence.

According to Georgia law, sex offenders must notify deputies of any address, job or vehicle change within 72 hours.

Kight, who was already on probation for a previous failure to comply, was convicted of child molestation in 1987. He was added to Burke County's registry last year after his release from prison.

Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office at 706-554-2133.
