BCHS defeats Josey and Laney on volleyball court
By Anne Marie Kyzer Staff Writer

The Burke County High School volleyball team served up losses to Josey and Laney high schools last week.

The Lady Bears toppled Laney Tuesday, winning two of the three games. Hailey Larmour sent ace after ace across the net, recording 15 total. Jalessa Sharpe helped the team with 7 aces, while Yasma Lynch had 6, Christina Free had 3 and Whitney Jenkins had 1.

Larmour also tallied 7 kills, and Lynch pounded 2. The win came following a tough loss to Harlem High School earlier in the afternoon.

Although BCHS suffered a loss to Butler Thursday, the Lady Bears went on to claim a victory over Josey after just two games that afternoon.

Larmour recorded 3 aces, and Sharpe and Cassie Loftin each had 1. Yasma Lynch and Crystal Lynch had 1 kill each, and Sharpe recorded 1 block.

The win allowed the Lady Bears to avenge their loss to Josey Tuesday, Sept. 11. The Bears also fell to A.R. Johnson Academy that day.

BCHS will face Baldwin and Hephzibah high schools at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at home.
