Hours extended for flu clinic next week

The weather may still be warm, but it's time to start preparing for flu season.

The Burke County Health Department will hold extended hours next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 2-4, for a flu clinic at its Dogwood Drive facility.

The flu vaccinations cost $20, but the cost of the vaccine is covered in full for those with Medicaid or Medicare.

Information will also be presented on the pandemic influenza, commonly known as the bird flu. However, Burke County Health Department administrator Gina Richardson stressed that the vaccine to be administered at the clinic is not the bird flu vaccine.
