BCHS actors present 'An Autumn Showcase'
From Staff Reports

The Burke County High School Thespian Society will present "An Autumn Showcase" Sept. 21-22 at 7 p.m. in the Smith Auditorium. The production will consist of three oneact plays.

The evening opens with "Parcel," a British comedy by David Campton. Directed by Victoria Price, the cast features Benjamin Cordle, Lexi Price and Alexis Anderson in the major roles.

Grandma, played by Anderson, disappears while being transferred from one relative's house to another's. In the pursuit that follows, the granddaughter and her husband, played by Price and Cordle, must examine why her grand- mother would want to abandon her caring family.

"Interview," the second production, is a play written by Jean- Claude Van Itallie. It opens with a series of interviews at an employment agency but then takes the audience on a tour inside the lives of each of the eight characters. Subtitled "A Fugue for Eight Actors," the play's structure resembles a musical composition, with themes and counterpoints. This piece is scheduled to be Burke County's entry for the Region Play Competition in October. The performers include Wesley Bryant, Brandon Williams, Chris Kittrell, Demany Coleman, Lexi Price, Whitney Sims, Sara Williams and Lindsay Rutledge.

To top off the evening, the theatre students will present "This is a Test" by Stephen Gregg. This production is an illustration of a teenager's worst nightmare. Alan, the main character played by Charles Sikes, is convinced to stay up studying all night right before the day of a test. Paranoia, hallucinations and performance pressure plague his ability to concentrate.

Tickets may be purchased at the door and are $5.
