Tire blow-out leaves one dead, three injured
By Elizabeth Billips Associate Editor

A Waynesboro man was killed Friday night when a tire blew out on his Oldsmobile.

According to a spokesperson from the Georgia State Patrol office, 22-year-old Everett Buxton wrecked on Godbee Road, five miles east of Girard, just after 11 p.m.

When the tire blew, Buxton lost control of the car and overturned.

Burke County Coroner Betty White said his death was caused by a head injury he received when he was ejected.

Three passengers were also injured: Derrick Carpenter, 19, Houston Mobley, 17, and a 16-year-old juvenile.

According to a spokesperson from the Medical College of Georgia, Mobley was listed in serious condition as of Tuesday afternoon. The others were apparently treated and discharged. Buxton was the fifth person to die on Burke County roadways this year.
