From the Blotter Copping a buzz A Burke County woman tried to help an inmate cop a buzz, but ended up getting busted by the fuzz. According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, 33-year-old Natasha Nobles dropped off a pair of hair clippers at the jail Tuesday and said they were for inmate Kendrick Johnson, who was arrested in June for burglary. After Nobles left, jailers disassembled the clippers and found a bag of marijuana inside. According to Capt. Frankie Parker, a warrant has been issued for Nobles' arrest for delivery of marijuana across a guard line, a felony. Friday night fight Police broke up a party late Friday night when some of the 200 or so teenagers got out of hand. According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Head Start building on College Street to handle reports of kids fighting. When they arrived, the building smelled like marijuana and only one adult could be found. While clearing out the party, several gunshots were heard in the area, but officers couldn't find any evidence that someone had been shot. They did, however, find a 17-year-old with a large gash above his eye. He told officers he was attacked by four other teens who slammed his head into the wall and kicked him. All washed up A former carwash employee is in hot water after he duped a woman into letting him pick up her car. According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, 24-year-old Reginald Johnson called the woman, pretending he still worked at the carwash, and arranged to pick up her Taurus. The woman called the carwash shortly thereafter and was informed that Johnson no longer worked there and they didn't have her car. Police were on the lookout for Johnson when they were called to a wreck at Burke Medical Center. According to witnesses, a man driving a Ford Taurus hit a hospital pick-up truck, then left the accident scene with someone in another car. The driver's description matched Johnson's, and the Taurus was registered to the victim. According to Investigator Bobbie Jockel, Johnson is wanted for hit and run, driving with a suspended or revoked license and theft by deception. |
