 | | CHARLES WESTMAN Band Director Hometown: Acworth, Georgia Family: Daughters, Brittany, freshman music major at Georgia Southern University; and Courtney, sophomore at Burke County High School Flashback: Received his bachelor's degree from Georgia College, master's from Southern Methodist University and specialist degree from Argosy University and attended West Cobb High School where he was a member of the Warrior Band Teaching philosophy: With consistent hard work, good things happen. I believe that high but attainable standards are the cornerstone of student success. First instrument: Trombone- I was the principal trombonist in the U.S. Air Force band at Robins Air Force Base; principal trombonist in the Festival Orchestra in Rome, Italy; and performed with the Dallas Opera Orchestra Before Burke County: Band Director of Richmond Hill High School's Wildcat Band |

 | | SUSAN JUKER Hometown: Augusta, Georgia Family: Husband, John Flashback: Attended the University of Georgia and played in the Red Coat Band; played in the marching band at Westside High School Teaching philosophy: As a music educator, my job is to provide every student who enters my classroom an opportunity to learn to love, understand and appreciate music. In my classroom at Burke County Middle School, this is provided through performance experiences. I believe through these experiences students gain significant, lasting understanding and insight about music, about the world around them and about themselves. |
