Johns Hopkins bound
 | | Waynesboro resident Jim Griffin, 23, will study medicine at the "Best of the Best." On Aug. 27, he'll begin classes at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. While Griffin wants to keep an "open mind" about his career, he has a keen interest in oncology, having already spent a summer shadowing specialists at the Medical College of Georgia. Regardless of the field he chooses, Griffin plans to practice academic medicine - a three-point approach that combines teaching, researching and treating patients. Griffin attended the University of Georgia where he maintained a 4.0 GPA and was a 2007 summa cum laude, first honor graduate. He received a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He was also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Shelley Griffin. |
