STORM DAMAGE

Friday evening's storm tore through much of Burke County leaving plenty of damage in its path. Above, hail accumulates in a yard in northern Burke County. Strong winds blew the Strawberry Patch stand, at right, from its roadside location on Highway 25 into a nearby field and ripped limbs from trees causing damage to many local homes. Lightning was the cause of several fires reported in the area, and many residences and businesses experienced temporary power outages as a result of the storm.
