From the Blotter

Just testing

An SUV owner called police last week when a potential buyer went too far.

According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, the owner allowed the potential buyer to take the $13,500 Durango home for a two-day test drive.

After 10 days without a word, the owner called the buyer's probation officer who said he was vacationing out of state.

Bad dog

Waynesboro police know why people were complaining.

They were dispatched to Washington Drive last Monday after several residents complained that an aggressive pit bull was on the loose and trying to attack people.

It didn't take long to verify the complaints.

When they got out of their patrol cars, the dog rushed toward them in attack mode.

The animal control officer managed to fend off the dog with a catch pole until the owner came outside and called him off.

The pit bull will remain at the city shelter until the owner gets a new fence or heavy duty chain and collar.

Getting the message A Waynesboro man called deputies after his wife began receiving lewd photos on her cell phone.

According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, she received six photographs of an unknown man, including a nude close-up.

The deputy left a message on the caller's voicemail, advising him to stop sending messages and to double-check the cell number of the intended receiver.

Pants on fire

A Waynesboro woman says another driver told a whopper to deputies a couple of weeks ago.

As reported in last week's Blotter, the woman called the dispatcher on Aug. 10 to report she'd been run off Highway 56 by an unknown driver.

She had agreed to meet deputies at T&J Country Store, but when they arrived the alleged offender was the only one there.

He admitted he'd run the woman off the road, but said that when he stopped to check on her, she screamed at him, flipped him off and tried to follow him.

Not so, according to that woman.

She said the man, described as long-haired and nearly toothless, ran her off the road not once, but twice.

Then, she said, he proceeded to holler profanities in front of her children.

The woman waited at the store for 20 minutes but had to leave because her children were late for their school's open house.
