Midville police chief resigns

Midville officials are looking for a new chief of police.

Former chief Brian McDuffie turned in his resignation last Monday and was gone by the end of the week.

His letter thanked the mayor and city council for "the opportunity to work with the City of Midville" but did not state a reason for his departure.

After reading the letter aloud, Mayor Pro Tem Scotty Womack told council that McDuffie was leaving to pursue another opportunity.

In a telephone interview, McDuffie confirmed that he will take a job in the Savannah area but declined to comment further on his resignation.
