Copper thieves strike thrice

      Thieves tore thousands of dollars worth of copper out of three Waynesboro buildings. Saturday, police were called to the Wardlow Building on West Seventh Street after a Rotary Club member discovered someone went under the building and pulled out 500 feet of copper pipe.

Road closed for repair

      Beginning 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, State Route 80 in Burke County will be closed for railroad crossing maintenance, with weather permitting. The road will reopen noon Thursday, Aug. 9. An official detour route will be posted. Traffic will detour using State Route 305 and Gough Spur Road.
