Freshman Orientation
On Thursday, July 26, Burke County High School held its first summer freshman orientation. Around 150 upcoming freshmen were given information about composite scheduling, behavioral guidelines, clubs, extracurricular activities, study tips, dress code, tardies, testing, guidance services and media center services. Parents and students were also given a tour of the building. "There is no doubt that the orientation was a success," BCHS principal Dr. Wayne Hickman said. "The feedback that we received from both the students and the parents who attended was overwhelmingly positive. It is our plan to work throughout the upcoming year to make some improvements to the format of the program so that next year's orientation will be even better."
