By Bonnie K. Taylor General Manager The True Citizen

Congratulations to Tim and Jaime Carey on the birth of their son, Wyatt Thomas, born Friday, July 20 at Burke Medical Center in Waynesboro.

He weighed 7 pounds, 3 1/2 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Jaime's sister, Jennifer Barefield, called us about 9:30 the night before Wyatt was born to let us know Jaime had gone into labor. She said the baby would probably be born later that night or early the next morning.

I thought to myself I would go to the hospital on Friday after Jaime had had time to get a little rest.

I was eating lunch with some friends of mine on Friday when it occurred to me that I had not checked on the birth.

I left from the restaurant and went straight to the hospital.

I inquired about which room she was in at the front desk and was told she was not in a room yet. I asked why and she responded she just had the baby!

What a surprise! Wyatt was less than an hour old and I got to see him. He looks like his mom and is just precious.

Grandparents are Roy and Patsy Black of Waynesboro and Bob and Liz Carey of Litchfield, Ky.

Great grandmothers are Sadie Dowdle of Martinez and Margie Cook of Augusta.

Wyatt was welcomed home by his 9-year-old brother, Dawson.

My sister, Caroline Hall, who lives in Reading, Mass., just outside of Boston came upon a wrought iron bench with a wooden seat and a bird dog in the center of the back rest at a friend's house.

She inquired about the bench, which she fell in love with.

The owner said a client of hers gave it to her. It was from an estate sale purchased by a landscape designer who was a student at Harvard University.

She told the owner that she was from Waynesboro, Ga., the Bird Dog Capital of the World.

Low and behold, several days later a truck pulled into her driveway with the bird dog bench for her.

What a coincidence! My sister and her husband re- cently purchased a weekend get away on a lake in New Hampshire.

Among some of the items left behind in the house were two blankets with bird dog prints on them.

I hope these bird dogs will keep her from being homesick. She can come home any time ... her big sister misses her dearly!
