Mrs. Deneene T. Knox

Deneene T. Knox passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Hospice of the Golden Isles, Inc. in Brunswick, Ga., at the age of 72.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, at 3 p.m. at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave., Brunswick, Ga.

Burial will be private.

Mrs. Knox was a native of Mobile, Ala., and had lived in Brunswick for more than 40 years.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mr. W.H. (Bill) Knox.

She was preceded in death by her parents Carroll Bernard and Cecile Louise Bellman Turner, and a brother, James Ralph Turner.

Additional survivors include her three children, Catherine Knox Fowler and her husband, Dan, of Waynesboro, Ga., William Matthew Knox and his wife, Patricia, of Bedford, Va., and Paulette Knox Tompkins and her husband, Lee, of Perry, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Betsy, Mary and Daniel Fowler, Eli and Sarah Knox, and Caitlin and Caroline Tompkins; a brother, Ronald Ingram Turner of Mobile, Ala., and sister in law Ann George Turner also of Mobile, Ala.

Mrs. Knox graduated from Murphy High School in 1952 and from the Sisters of Charity School of Nursing in 1955. She worked for many years as a registered nurse at Glynn- Brunswick Memorial Hospital in Brunswick, Ga. After completing a bachelors of science degree in nursing from Armstrong State College in 1975 and a masters degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1976, she began teaching nursing at Brunswick Junior College. She retired in 1997 after having taught for more than 20 years. Many of her former hospital coworkers and nursing students provided loving care to her during her final days.

She was a member of College Place United Methodist Church and served on the board of directors for Care South Home Health Care.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, Inc., 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.

Edo Miller and Sons is in charge of the arrangements.
