From the Blotter

Buds and bras

A woman and two teenagers were arrested Saturday when they tried to shoplift everything from bras to Budweiser.

According to a police report, Wal-Mart employees detained Comesia Shawntale Dukes, 17, and Chanise Tinekoyo Dukes, 18, in the parking lot after they allegedly concealed merchandise in their purses.

Lashawn Laquinia Dukes, 32, also had two 12-packs of beer in her cart, but employees said she'd produced a receipt on the way out of the store, claiming she'd paid for it.

That receipt, however, was dated March 27.

After a brief struggle, officers arrested the trio and charged them each with shoplifting and interference with police.

The recovered merchandise was valued just over $130.

Road drop

Two Hephzibah men were arrested after a fellow motorist saw them tossing bags out of their car windows.

Burke County deputies were working a roadblock Friday night when a concerned citizen informed them that several objects were thrown out of a Ford Escort as it neared the block.

Three bags of marijuana were found near the roadside, and a fourth was discovered in the Escort.

Sixto Ivan Laozada, 37, and Jamie Lee Jones, 27, were both charged with possession of marijuana.

Fast and furious

Police were called to two local fast food eateries after cell phones went flying.

Thursday night, two women got into a scrap at Sonic Drive-in when one accused the other of calling her fat.

The offender attempted to punch the other woman in the face, but missed and hit her hand instead. The victim complained that her cell phone was knocked out of her hand and her fingernail was broken.

The next day, trouble began brewing at the McDonald's drivethrough window when a customer got into it with a teenage employee.

According to the employee, the customer placed an order, then threw the money at her.

She told police she returned fire with a cell phone, because "it was the nearest thing (she) could get (her) hands on."

The customer said she'd tried to pay, but the employee threw her money back at her. She said she fired back with a Sprite, and then the employee hurled the phone. Half the phone ended up in the customer's car, but the other half was never found.

No arrests were made in either case.

Park and punch

A Waynesboro woman was arrested after she punched another woman in the O'Reilly's parking lot Saturday.

The victim told Waynesboro police that Tonjulia Roberson, 39, just walked up to her vehicle and struck her in the face.

According to the report, the victim attempted to spray mace at Roberson, but inadvertently misted a Waynesboro man and a 9- year-old girl who were nearby.

Roberson reportedly admitted to hitting the woman, saying "she had it coming to her … I beat her (expletive)."

She was charged with battery.

Underground

A buried shotgun was discovered by a group of kids playing near a "wash house" on Eighth Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, the Burke County man turned the 12-gauge Mossberg in to Sheriff Greg Coursey after the kids brought it to his attention.

The gun had been wrapped in plastic before it was buried. While an owner has not been located, deputies confirmed that the gun wasn't stolen.
