Teen critically injured in Highway 23 wreck A Sunday morning accident sent three local teens to the hospital. According to a Georgia State Patrol spokesperson, James A. Fitts Jr., 18, of Waynesboro, was traveling north on Georgia Highway 23 when his GMC truck veered off the road. Fitts overcorrected the vehicle causing it to zigzag 185 feet to the west shoulder. The vehicle traveled another 127 feet before hitting a tree and flipping. There were two passengers in the vehicle with Fitts, Kendrick Harris, 18, and Charles Williams Jr., 20, both of Waynesboro. All three suffered injuries and were transported to the Medical College of Georgia where Fitts and Williams remain. According to a MCG spokesperson, Williams is in critical condition and Fitts is in good condition. Harris was discharged on Monday. |
