Driver arrested in football star's death

A Brooklyn woman has been arrested for the death of a Burke County football star.

Tashina Jenkins, 21, was jailed Monday on charges of homicide by vehicle in the second degree and failure to maintain lane.

Last February, 18-year-old Stefan Rountree was killed when Jenkins drifted into his lane on Highway 24 and hit him head-on. He had been on his way to school.

At the time of the accident, officers said Jenkins, who then lived in the area, had just gotten off the night shift at Wal- Mart.

Witnesses speculated that she may have fallen asleep behind the wheel.
