Sibling shot during fight over towels

      A Waynesboro man was sent to surgery while his sister was sent to jail. Jimmie Lee Ellison, 42, was shot in the arm Monday during an argument over towels. His sister, 34-year-old Geneva Ellison, told deputies she aimed the gun and fired but was only trying to "back him off" her.

      A Brooklyn woman has been arrested for the death of a Burke County football star. Tashina Jenkins, 21, was jailed Monday on charges of homicide by vehicle in the second degree and failure to maintain lane.

      A Sunday morning accident sent three local teens to the hospital. According to a Georgia State Patrol spokesperson, James A. Fitts Jr., 18, of Waynesboro, was traveling north on Georgia Highway 23 when his GMC truck veered off the road.

      Vandalism continues at the Burke County airport as shown by two separate incidents last week. According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, several lights along the runway were broken on Tuesday, July 10, causing more than $1,000 in damage.
