Mrs. Pauline Long Oliver

Pauline Long Oliver, 92, of Sardis entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, with a joyous end to this earthly world.

Graveside services were held Saturday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at Sardis Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. Bill King and the Rev. Ken Nichols officiating.

She was born in Burke County to the late John C. and Emma J. Long on April 27, 1915.

She had an apparent love and devotion for all she knew. This continued all her life and she was such a profound witness to those to whom she was a daughter, granddaughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and even a greatgreat grandmother. Her door and heart were always open. She suffered much hardship and joy, but, she knew and pronounced that it was her Lord who carried her through it all. She fought the fight of life and finished the purpose of which was so evident of her Eternal Father.

Mrs. Oliver was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Mr. J. C. Oliver; a son, John William Oliver; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Oliver; four siblings, Mary Ella Fout, Perry Martin Long, Sr., John Rayford Long and John Thomas Long.

She is survived by three children, Virginia O. (Arnold) Mallard of Cocoa, Fla., J. Terrell (Pat) Oliver of Sardis and Angeline O. (Sidney) Williams of Sardis; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 8, at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Al Mallard, Jack Oliver, Joey Oliver, Jeff Oliver, Casey Williams, and Adam Mallard.

Flowers are being accepted, however, remembrances may be made to a charity of one's choice in memory of Mrs. Oliver as a testament of her life.

The family received friends at the home (9078 Highway 24 South, Sardis).
