Driver injured in motorcycle wreck A motorcycle driver was seriously injured when he hit an embankment and sailed nearly 300 yards before crashing. According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, Charlie McCollough Jr., 31, wrecked in a cow pasture off Highway 305 just before 11 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses said McCollough passed their vehicle at a high rate of speed just before the accident. Officers believe he lost control while negotiating a curve and slammed into the embankment. His motorcycle was found around 300 yards away, and pieces of the bike were scattered across the field. He was transported to Medical College of Georgia with a head injury, a broken vertebra and numerous lacerations, the report said. His condition was not available at press time Tuesday. |
