Student records

The Burke County Board of Education will destroy all student records relating to special education services for individuals who attained the age of 22 during the period of July 1, 2006-June 30, 2007.

These records will be destroyed on Wednesday, Aug. 1. Anyone wishing to recover his/ her personal records before they are destroyed may call Pam Lambert or Cathy Fowler at 706-554-6306 to schedule an appointment for pickup.

Class of '87

The Waynesboro High School Class of 1987 reunion will be held Aug. 3-5.

The final fee is due by July 6, and should be mailed to WHS Class of 1987, P.O. Box 6011, Augusta, GA 30916-6011.

Elder abuse awareness

The Burke County Victim Assistance program will hold the second annual World Elder Abuse Awareness program Friday, June 15.

Communities across the country will hold events to raise awareness of the elder abuse. If you know anyone who is experiencing elder abuse, contact your local law enforcement agency, the Department of Family and Children's Services (706- 554-7751) or Burke County Victims Assistance (706-437-1424).

The Burke County Victims Assistance program will promote awareness by wearing and displaying purple ribbons.

Diabetic teaching

A public service of diabetic teaching will be available at Burke Medical Center 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 14.

Limited space is available. Call Pansy Agerton in the dietary department at 706-554-4435.

Those who attend are encouraged to bring their partner or person who does their food preparation.

Consortium meeting

Enterprise Community Healthy Start will hold a consortium meeting 1-3 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the Burke County Library meeting room.

Guest speaker will be Beoncia Loveless, program coordinator, board certified medicolegal death investigator, who is a member of the GBI's Child Abuse Investigative Support Center team.

NAACP

The Burke County branch of the NAACP will hold its monthly meeting 9 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Mt. Olive AME Church, 527 West 7th St.
