Sarah Johnson Cross

Sarah Johnson Cross, 67, of Midville entered into rest on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at University Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 3, 2007, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Byrd officiating.

Interment will be private.

She was born Sept. 9, 1939 in Glascock County to the late William Henry Johnson Sr. and Mamie Way Johnson.

She resided in Burke County for most of her life and was a retired business woman and homemaker.

Mrs. Cross was a member of the Midville First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Arren Cross, and a brother, William Henry Johnson Jr.

She is survived by a daughter, Holly Arnel Cross of Midville; a brother, Ernest Johnson of Waynesboro; a sister, Evelyn Mooneyham of Midville; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The family received friends on Saturday, June 2, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Pallbearers were Gary Dean Johnson Jr., Chris Broxton, Al Smith, Russell Anderson, Rob Johnson, Jordan Johnson, and Randy Johnson, nephews of Mrs. Cross.

Flowers are being accepted, but remembrances may be made to a charity of one's choice.
