Argument leads to stabbing
By Diana Royal

Police responded to Burke Medical Center after a Waynesboro man said his girlfriend stabbed him in the back with a knife.

According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, the victim said he and his girlfriend got into a verbal argument on Sunday afternoon which eventually led to an altercation.

While he told deputies that his girlfriend picked up a knife and struck him in the back, she claims that he started an argument with her after she came home from an Augusta club. According to the girlfriend, he grabbed her clothes, choking her, and as he pushed her to the floor, she grabbed the first thing she could - which turned out to be a knife.

The victim transported himself to the hospital, where he was treated and then later released.

A witness told police the victim had actually started the fight.
