Go to sleep!

A Waynesboro woman called the sheriff's office on Saturday because her husband wouldn't stop talking.

According to the report, the woman said her husband was intoxicated and talking so loudly that she couldn't sleep. She told officers he had not harmed her and that she just wanted him to be quiet. He agreed to sleep in the camper trailer in the back yard.

Off the top

Thieves stole a pair of ceiling fans from a Waynesboro apartment complex last week.

On Wednesday, May 30, an employee of the apartment building reported that an unknown person entered one of the apartments through a window and stole the two fans, which were valued at $75 each.

A phone jack was also pulled from the wall, causing nearly $40 in damages.

Busted bus A Headstart employee returned to work over the weekend only to find the bus she drives had been broken into and vandalized.

According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, the employee called police early Saturday morning to report the incident. A jug of hand sanitizer had been poured on the floor of the bus and a window was busted. The employee also stated that a broom, a box of individual packs of mustard and a box of individual packs of mayonnaise were missing. She also said all the buttons on the control panel had been tampered with.

Gas guzzlers

Convenience stores in Burke County are continuing to be hit hard by the rising gas prices as more incidents of driveoffs are occurring.

Reports involving gas culprits poured in this week, with Murphy's USA claiming a loss of $219.42 in stolen gas. Golden Pantry and McTeer Food and Fuel #4 also reported incidents.

Some of the offenders have now been identified by the cars' tag numbers.

In the last two weeks, more than $800 worth of gas has been reported stolen.
