Getting better every day

Burke County's STAR student April McDaniel piled on even more honors this week. The Edmund Burke Academy valedictorian was selected as a top-five winner in Augusta Chronicle's Best and Brightest competition, which recognizes 25 outstanding seniors across the CSRA. She is pictured with the newspaper's managing editor, Elizabeth Adams. April was also recently accepted into the Georgia Scholar's Program - an effort by the Georgia Department of Education to identify and recognize seniors who have achieved excellence in school and community life. Of the 144 students nominated statewide, April was one of the 60 chosen. She is the daughter of Richard and Jane McDaniel of Vidette.
