RFD
By Bonnie K. Taylor General Manager The True Citizen

Megan Elizabeth Chalker, daughter of our publisher, Roy Chalker Jr., and Kim Chalker graduated with a juris doctor degree with a certificate in environmental law from Pace Law School in White Plains, N.Y.

She graduated Sunday, May 20, with her family proudly looking on.

During the summer of 2006 Megan worked for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He recognized her for her work as a summer intern in the school's Enviornmental Litigation Clinic.

Megan has been in and out of The True Citizen office since she was a toddler.

I recall a time when Megan was around 10

or 11 and she came by our office. She chatted

with me while she was waiting on her daddy. She sat in a chair across from my desk. She reared back in the chair, crossed her feet and rested them on the corner of my desk. She looked at me so seriously and said, "Just think ... one day you will be working for me!"

I responded, "I can't wait!"

She was a bit cocky back then and little bit spoiled.

She is still cocky today but in a good way. She is still spoiled, but that's her daddy's fault.

Megan, you have grown into an intelligent young woman and I would be honored to work for you!

My deepest sympathy is extended to Becky and Marcus Mogel on the death of their 22-month old son, Matthew.

Matthew drowned last Friday.

Matthew is also the grandson of Dan and Sharon Lowe of Waynesboro and Billy and Brenda Zeigler of Sardis.

This family has experienced much tragedy in the past year with the death of another young family member, Ron Mogel.

The families of Burke County are great at reaching out to those who need love and prayers during trying times as they will for the Mogels.
