Routine road block results in arrest of father, son
By Elizabeth Billips Associate Editor

A Waynesboro father and son were arrested Saturday night when crack cocaine and nearly $3,000 were found in their Monte Carlo.

Lindsey Lawson Jr., 23, was stopped at a River Road safety block when a deputy noticed a handgun on the floorboard.

When Lawson allegedly reached toward it, both he and his father, Lindsey Lawson Sr., were pulled from the car and patted down.

Between them, they had $2,837 cash in their pockets.

A drug-sniffing canine pointed officers toward Lawson Sr.'s shoe, in which they found a large quantity of crack cocaine.

Lawson Sr. is charged with possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, as well as parole violation.

Lawson Jr. is charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
