Sardis drunk driver charged for deaths

A Sardis man was finally arrested for the deaths of two passengers in a car he crashed while driving drunk.

Rodriquez Antuan Jones, 27, was arrested last Wednesday on an outstanding grand jury warrant and transported to Burke County after being picked up in Richmond County.

A grand jury indicted Jones on the charges nearly a year ago.

He is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of driving under the influence.

Jeffrey Brown, 20, and Tremond Holmes, 29, were killed when the car they were riding in with Jones crashed into a tree and burst into flames. Both died at the scene from their injuries.
