Children, dogs involved in accident Seven children and several dogs escaped serious injury when a golf cart turned over on Hometract Road off Old Waynesboro Road Tuesday morning. According to a report, the Burke County Sheriff's Office received a call around 10 a.m. about a golf cart accident involving several children and dogs. An 11-year-old was driving the cart with a dog in her lap. Distracted by the dog, the young driver made a sharp turn and ran into a wire fence, rolling the golf cart and throwing the children and several dogs off the vehicle. The driver and an 8-year-old were transported to the Medical College of Georgia. The older child had a possible wrist fracture and the younger complained of leg pains. Two of the children are neighbors and the others are relatives. The golf cart belongs to Edna Mabli. According to the BCSO report, the caretaker of the children went into the home to answer the telephone and the children took off on the golf cart. No charges have been filed, and the incident remains under investigation. |
