Teen mom could face child cruelty charges
By Elizabeth Billips Associate Editor

A teenage mother could face criminal charges after a social worker removed five small children from her Pilgrim Way apartment earlier this month.

According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Depart- ment, the children, who are all under the age of four, had not been bathed in some time and had repeatedly urinated in their unwashed clothes.

There were no linens on their beds, the report said, and very little food in the pantry. While officers attempted to talk with the children's 18-year-old mother, the toddlers began to play with a running fan that had no protective grills on the front or back.

The case has been turned over to investigators who will determine whether the mother will be charged with reckless conduct and cruelty to children.
