Brownies give back to community
The Edmund Burke Academy Brownies worked all year to earn $250.00. Earlier this month, they gave it all back to their school to help build a new kindergarten/primary school building. Leaders say the girls made the contribution as "an expression of thanks for allowing them a place to meet, learn and grow." The 23 first and second grade members of troop 85 also fulfilled their commitment to carry out at least one service project for each month that they met. Some of those projects included donating pet supplies to the Old Fella Animal Rescue, visiting Brentwood Terrace to put on a "dress up" fashion show for the residents, distributing art work to cheer up hospital patients who were shut in during the holidays, adopting a DFACS family with many children and providing the family with toys and clothing for Christmas and, more recently, participating in the "Gift of Caring" program in conjunction with Girl Scout cookie sales. As a part of this program, donated cookies were distributed to teachers, school workers and other important members of our community. The girls are pictured with EBA headmaster Brent Cribb.
