From the Blotter

Cows gone wild

A group of longhorn cows were taken into custody after the threesome damaged the property of several area residents.

Officers responded to Hillcrest Drive last Tuesday where a woman complained that the three cows had damaged several trees and small plants in her yard. A McManus Road man was also present and said the cows had done approximately $100 worth

damage to his garden.

While officers were interviewing the two complainants, another McManus Road resident reported that while she and her children were outside, the cows walked onto her property. Less than an hour later, the cows were spotted again at a Highway 25 residence.

According to a report, the three cows were traced back to a McManus Road residence, where their owner denied they had gotten out of their pen. They were eventually located near Highway 121 and seized by code enforcement officer Ricky Greiner.

On the previous day, a third McManus Road resident reported loose cows pushed over a horse fence on her property.

Afternoon moon

A man dropped his pants and jumped off a bridge near Sardis just as a school bus carrying children passed by.

According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, the bus driver said she was traveling over the Murray Hill Bridge last Tuesday afternoon when young, white male standing on the bridge pulled down his pants and dove into the water.
