Graduates bid farewell to high school
BCHS seniors will receive diplomas this Sunday in J.D. Smith Auditorium

Burke County High School seniors will march in the school's 20th graduation ceremony set for Sunday, May 20, at 4 p.m. in the J.D. Smith Auditorium.
Only those with tickets will be admitted into the auditorium. However, others may view the ceremony via closed circuit viewing on the 200 hall of the school.
Some 240 graduates plan to receive their diplomas this year. Valedictorian Jeffrey Chandler Jr. and salutatorian Ashley Utley will speak at the ceremony.
Chandler is the son of Bobbye Chandler and Jeff Chandler.
Chandler plans to attend the University of Georgia's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and major in agricultural engineering.
Chandler was the BCHS STAR student and has received scholarships from the Watson Brown Foundation and Planters EMC, as well
as a UGA One Scholarship.
Chandler was nominated for the U.S.
Achievement Academy in mathematics and agriculture, received certificates of
merit from UGA and Augusta State University
and was voted Most Likely to Succeed

by his classmates.
Utley, the daughter of Melrose Utley, has been accepted to
Georgia State University. She
plans to major in early childhood
education and pursue a
minor in youth counseling.
Utley was named the top African-American Student, received UGA and ASU certificates of merit and was named to the National Honor Roll.

honors at the ceremony include

Mollie Marie Mitchell, Kenya Chanae West and Stephen Phillip Young.
