FIGHTING FOR A CURE
While the $87,000 goal for Burke County Relay For Life has yet to be reached, Relay chair Jackie Eskew said monies were still coming in. As of Tuesday morning, $74,000 had been tallied, with much more expected to be added over the next few weeks. According to Eskew, Plant Vogtle will sponsor a golf tournament and Georgia Power will hold a yard sale, with proceeds from both events benefiting Relay. Shown above, survivors make their way around the track on Friday night in the ceremonial first lap, and right, employees of First National Bank get into the spirit of the circus-themed event as "Carnies for a Cure." Last year, Relay netted more than $85,000. See more photos on page 23A.
