Makenzie Posey, 5, killed this turkey while hunting in Burke County. It had a 10-1/8 inch beard, 1-¼ inch spurs and was 17 pounds. Makenzie is the daughter of Robbie and Wendy Posey. While hunting in Burke County on April 28, Savannah Shivers, 10, called this gobbler in three times before her dad, Chad, finally got a shot. Catfish chowder, catfish nuggets, catfish fillets…Joel "Smuggy" Jeffers won't have any shortage of catfish when he prepares his favorite recipes. Jeffers landed the large cat above, which he estimated to weigh more than 30 pounds, while fishing in a pond in western Burke County. The avid angler said he cut his trip short when he reeled in the monster fish. "When I caught that one, I was done," he said, having a hard time suppressing a proud grin. "I had a time getting him in." Scott Saxon, son of Alan and Kim Saxon of North Augusta, went fishing with his mother on Good Friday and caught these fish. Scott is the grandson of Martin and Marie Saxon of Waynesboro.
