BCMS Sports Banquet

Burke County Middle School honored its athletes at the annual Sports Banquet Tuesday, May 1. Softball players honored included Taylor Tidwell as Best Defensive Player, Haley Taylor as Best All Around and Tiffany McManus as Most Valuable Player. Lady Cubs track team members honored included Keyona Boatwright for Best in Field Events, Alexus Gordon for the Coaches' Award and Tiffany McManus as Best Runner. Boy's basketball honorees included Devin Beverly for the Coaches' Award, Jahanas Harden as Best Defensive Player and Jacquez Rozier as Best Offensive Player. Girl's basketball awards included Kierra Boatwright as Best Offensive Player, Tre'Linda Little as Best Defensive Player and Antornia Walker for Best All Around. Cheerleading awards were presented to Heather Grunewald as Best All Around, Tiffany McManus as Most Spirited, Morgan Quick as Most Valuable and Ashley Ellison as a Beary Special Cheerleader. Tennis Coaches' awards were presented to Lawton Rhodes and Laurie Askew. Boys' track awards were presented to Tony Habersham as Best Runner, Montres Kitchens for the Coaches' Award and Michael Purdie as Best in Field Events. Baseball honors went to Corey Mayton as Best Offensive Player, Logan Larmour as Best Defensive Player and Justin Thigpen for the Coaches' Award. Eighth Grade Football awards included Antonio Welch as Best Defensive Player, Devonta Osborne for the Coaches' Award and Michael Purdie as Best Offensive Player. See photo, page 12A.
