Mrs. Barbara Caudle Tinley

Mrs. Barbara Caudle Tinley of Waynesboro entered into rest Monday, May 7, 2007 at Trinity Hospital of Augusta.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Alderman and the Rev. Wes Lawson officiating.

Committal services will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Tinley was born May 10, 1947 in Oak Ridge, Tenn., to the late Richard E. Caudle Jr. and Wilma C. Caudle.

She attended Carson-Newman College and graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She earned a Masters Degree from Georgia Southern College.

Mrs. Tinley retired after serving for 31 years as an educator. She taught at Waynesboro High School, Hephzibah Junior High School, Blakeney Elementary School and Burke County High School.

For a number of years she served as Department Chairperson of the Language Arts Program at Burke County High. She was selected as Star Teacher twice and named Teacher of the Year as well as being honored as Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. Tinley was a member of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church where she served for many years in the Youth Department as Teacher, Director and Youth Council Member. She also served as Counselor or Chaperone on numerous mission trips, retreats, and summer camps.

Active pallbearers are Edward Thomas, Robert Williford, J.L. Glisson, Henry Tinley, Lewis Tinley and J.D. Smith.

Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church.

Mrs. Tinley is survived by her husband of 36 years and five months, Bill Tinley; two sons, Billy Tinley and his wife, Katie, of Tampa, Fla., and Wesley Tinley of Atlanta; a brother, Rick Caudle and his wife, Kathy, of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister; Janis Jenkins and her husband, Leon, of Madisonville, Tenn.; two nieces, Pam Earl and Susan Tinley; five nephews, Hank Tinley, Mike Tinley, John Tinley, Jason Caudle and Dakota Jenkins.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Rosemont Heights Building Fund, The American Cancer Society, The Gideon Memorial Bible Fund or Trinity Hospice.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
