I scream for beer

A Waynesboro man called police after a local convenience store clerk threw an ice cream cone at him.

According to a report, the man purchased some items and, upon receiving his change, picked up a beer that had been placed on the counter by another person. The store clerk then allegedly yelled, "You not pay for beer!" before calling the patron crazy and attempting to throw the cone at him.

Super Sonic surprise

A bag of "animal waste" and hair was left at a drive-in restaurant last week.

According to a report, an employee who'd come to pick up his last paycheck dropped the plastic bag from his vehicle when he left.

The bag also contained his Sonic uniform.

Mean mama

A mother who left her child unattended in a running car waited in the parking lot for the woman who alerted doctor's office employees.

Wyatiena Chalena Whitaker, 26, of 1365 Nathaniel Howard Road, Waynesboro, was arrested for battery and cruelty to children in the third degree after fighting in the parking lot.

According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, the victim told the receptionist that someone left a child in an unattended vehicle and that the child was crying. The child's mother, Whitaker, then reportedly told the victim that the car and the baby were hers and to mind her own business.

After trying to fight the victim, Whitaker was asked to leave. According to the victim, Whitaker was waiting on her in the parking lot, where she began making threats. The victim stated that when she wrote down the her license plate number, Whitaker jumped out the car, snatched the paper and began hitting her and pushed her and her daughter to the ground. To defend herself, the victim punched Whitaker in the face, the report said.

Photos were taken of the victim and her child, and the reporting officer observed several marks and scratches on the victim's arm and neck.

Digging dog

A Waynesboro man alerted deputies after his dog began bringing bones and hair into his yard.

According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, the dog had been bringing the bones and hair onto the property for a few days, and the dog's owner was concerned. After being examined by the Burke County EMA, it was determined that the bones were that of an animal and the hair was probably horse hair.

The bones and hair were turned over to the BCSO.
