Officer struck in teen fracas A fight in the Westgate subdivision ended with charges against four teenage girls, including one who allegedly hit an officer. Police were first called to the area Wednesday night and dispersed about 15 people, mostly teens, who were arguing in the roadway. They were called back a halfhour later when four of the girls, who'd been ordered to leave, went to a nearby residence where two of them reportedly attacked a younger girl. According to the police report, 17-year-old Felisha Griffin and a 15-year-old juvenile hit the girl numerous times. Police stopped all four girls as they tried to drive away. The 15-year-old, who had her 8-month old child in tow, resisted arrest and struck Lt. Mary Bennett twice during the struggle, the report said. She is charged with simple battery, simple battery on a law enforcement officer and cruelty to children in the third degree. Griffin is charged with simple battery and cruelty to children in the third degree. The other two teens, 18-yearold Jill Hughes and 17-year-old Shaquanna Lakes, are charged with interference with police for refusing to comply with orders. Less than 24 hours later, another fight erupted at Westgate, this one involving approximately 10 teenagers. Two of the juveniles were taken into custody and released to their parents with a final warning. |
