Children of Confederacy

The Col. John James Jones Chapter of Children of the Confederacy will meet 9 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Magnolia Springs State Park.

There will be a fishing rodeo, video tour of the fort and a picnic lunch. Members are urged to attend.

Lizzie Gordon Day

Burke County Georgia Clients Council Inc. will hold the third annual Lizzie Gordon Day 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Neely Grove CME Church.

Diabetic teaching

A public service of diabetic teaching will be given at Burke Medical Center 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 10.

Limited space is available. Call Pansy Agerton in the dietary department, 706-554-4435, to sign up.

Participants are encouraged to bring the person who does their food preparation.

New Beginnings

The Center for New Beginnings will hold a silent auction on Friday, May 18, in conjunction with the 'Boro Beach Blast.

The auction will be held 5-8 p.m. at First Liberty Market and will include furniture, original art, event tickets, vacation packages, jewelry, goods and services.

Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit center that offers a variety of services for children and adolescents with academic, emotional and behavioral needs.

Old Fella

Burke County Old Fella Rescue Mission will meet 6 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at the 'Borough Restaurant.

Music recital The 2007 Music Recital presented by students of Angela Joiner, Edmund Burke Academy music director, will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Greenfork Baptist Church, located on the Burke/ Jenkins County line in Perkins. Admission is free, and the public is invited.

Fashion show

Enterprise Community Healthy Start will hold a Lil' King and Queen Fashion Show 3-6 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at the Burke County Senior Center. Children up to age 5 may enter. For more information, call 706-437-6912.

Class of '77

The Waynesboro High School Class of 1977 will have its 30-year class reunion at the alternative school cafeteria 7 p.m. Saturday, June 23.
