Rapid road kill

A Midville woman who hit a deer last Saturday night was planning to file a report when she got home from church the next day.

It was a tough weekend for her SUV.

According to a report filed at the Burke County Sheriff's Office, the woman's windshield was broken approximately 12 hours later when she hit a buzzard on the way to morning services.

Arch enemies

Deputies were called to Burke Medical Center after a fight at Club Paradise.

Doctors were treating a 24-year-old victim whose head was cut when she tried to break up the scuffle between her sister and another woman in the parking lot of the Bates Road nightclub.

The victim told deputies that while she was pulling her sister away, the other woman hit her over the head with a highheeled shoe.

Paper trail

A drunk driver who ran from police last weekend didn't make it far.

According to a report filed at the Waynesboro Police Department, the driver and three passengers bailed out of the car and ran when officers tried to make a traffic stop for nonworking headlights and taillights.

After finding his criminal history and a copy of his license in the glove box, police went to the home of John Arthur Wright Jr., 19, and arrested him for fleeing or attempting to elude police officers.

He was also charged with DUI after blowing .125 and .127.
