Midville ex-mayor Scott Cochran publishes book

A former Midville mayor has written a book and says he relied on his experiences growing up in rural Burke County for much of his material.

Scott Cochran recently penned "Motorcycle Journeys through the American South," a travel guide that explores the gorgeous scenery, history and fabulous food in the southern-most states.

The book includes 23 recommended "back roads" trips in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida specifically for motorcyclists.

Though he now lives in Swainsboro, Cochran was raised in Keysville and later moved to Midville. He served as Midville's mayor in the early 1990s.

Cochran, who was an active volunteer in the Redbreast Festival and the Lions Club, was also a board member for the Burke County Chamber of Commerce.

Cochran will present the book at the Coleman House Inn in Swainsboro 3-5 p.m., Saturday, April 14, in a release party and book signing. The public is invited.
