Former Florida State, USC chaplain to speak locally Football coaches herald Rev. Ken Smith as a great communicator, and others call him an inspiration. Rev. Smith, a former team chaplain for Florida State University and the University of South Carolina, will come to Waynesboro for an event at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church. The event, "A Closer Walk with Thee…," is scheduled for next weekend. FSU head football coach Bobby Bowden has said that it was during Rev. Smith's tenure as his team's chaplain that "things really began to break out in FSU football." Young adults will get the first taste of Rev. Smith's message at the church's annual "Steak Out" on Friday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m. Young singles and couples will get together for a steak dinner and a few words from Rev. Smith. The revival will begin Saturday, April 21, at 7 p.m. and will continue at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. A nursery and childcare will be provided at all events. For more information about the event, contact the church at 706-554-2468. |
