From the Blotter Where's my beer? An intoxicated man may have been the culprit behind his own missing beer. Deputies responded to a River Road residence on Friday, April 6, in reference to a stolen 12-pack of beer. According to the report, the man said he had been in his yard drinking and that someone stole his beer. Officers advised him to check the area to make sure he hadn't drunk it himself. With the windows down and the radio up Someone abandoned a drug-filled Monte Carlo on Cherry Street last Wednesday. Police responded to the scene after receiving an anonymous tip that drugs were being sold from the vehicle. Officers found the vehicle with no one inside, but the windows were down, the radio was on and the keys were still in the ignition, the police report said. The reporting officer found a shoe box containing a large bag of unprocessed marijuana and a digital scale on the backseat. While completing an inventory tow sheet before the car was impounded, the officer found more marijuana and a clear bag containing a small amount of cocaine. The incident is still under investigation. Nerves of steal Two juveniles received probation yesterday (Tuesday) after a shoplifting incident in which the pair left behind an infant. According to the WPD report, a Wal-Mart employee watched the juveniles as they put undergarments in their shopping cart and then dressed the 15-year-old's child in clothing from the infant department. The employee told officers they also poured some Powerade into a baby bottle they had taken from a shelf before exiting the store through the Lawn and Garden Center. When confronted in the parking lot, the two ran, leaving behind the shopping cart as well as the baby. Other items the two had taken included tubes of Icy Hot and BenGay, a bandana, two cans of formula, baby clothes, a toy and a blanket. The total cost of items taken was $188.95. According to Lt. Mary Bennett of the WPD, the two were sentenced to probation during Juvenile Court. |
